Zirconium nitride compounds have various crystal structures depending on the composition. For example, in the Zr-N alloy system, the alloying compounds found are ZrN, O-ZrN and C-ZrN. Not only do they have excellent chemical properties, but they can also be used in Josephson junctions, diffusion stacks, cryogenic thermometers, and more. They can also be used for three-dimensional integration of electrical coils and metal-based transistors. At the same time, these Zr-N compounds are superior to pure zirconium in terms of wear resistance, oxidation resistance, corrosion resistance, etc., and have a high superconducting critical temperature, so they may become good superconductors and have high application value.


Features of Zirconium Nitride:

CAS number: 25658-42-8; eine cs 247-166-2; physical density 7.09; microhardness is about 9800-19600 MPa. Melting point (2980±50)℃. ;Insoluble in water, slightly soluble in inorganic acid, soluble in concentrated sulfuric acid, hydrofluoric acid and aqua regia.

Zirconium nitride has excellent corrosion resistance, high hardness, good lubricity and ductility. These properties also make it an attractive coating material. These coatings are deposited by physical vapor deposition.


Application:

1. Used as a hard coating for machine tools such as drills and burrs. 2. Zirconium nitride is a hard ceramic material similar to titanium nitride and a refractory material similar to cement. Therefore, it is used in refractory materials, cermets and laboratory crucibles. 3. When the physical vapor deposition coating process is used, it is often used to coat components in high wear and corrosive environments, such as medical devices, industrial components, automotive and aerospace components. 4. For hardware, building materials, bathroom and other daily hardware accessories.

 

Zirconium nitride is an important metal material in modern industry. Zirconium (including hafnium) has outstanding plasticity; its anti-corrosion function exceeds that of titanium, and it can resist corrosion of various concentrations of nitric acid and sulfuric acid below 50% at 100 °C. Zirconium and hafnium also have special nuclear functions and good radiation resistance. Zirconium has excellent availability at high temperatures. Zirconium is widely used in atomic energy, electronics, metallurgy, chemical industry, medical treatment, tanning and other industrial sectors.
